Gallery Birgit Ostermeier presents the work of young, international artists who produce challenging, sometimes humourous, always thought provoking contemporary tendencies in sculpture, installation art and painting. The gallery began life in 2005 as the successful artist run space DISKUS and evolved into Gallery Birgit Ostermeier in May 2007. At the start of 2008 the gallery relocated to a larger space in a courtyard just off Brunnen Strasse, in Berlin's Mitte district. There the gallery continues to present the work of several of the sculptors who helped found DISKUS, while expanding to include international positions on painting, installation art and performance art. With a program of at least 8 solo and group exhibitions each year, Gallery Birgit Ostermeier is providing a productive and dynamic atmosphere in which young contemporary art can be viewed and considered. |
